The Edelweiss was built in 1912 under the name of Hotel Conrady. A strongly symmetrical architecture was combined with elements of the Art Nouveau, a style very similar to the one of the well known Hotel Schatzalp. In 1924, the Conrady hotel was transformed into a sanatorium - Davos' dry and fresh air is still said to be conducive for convalescence today.
In the following years the building changed its management and its name several times. In the 1950's it was completed by an extension on the right with an integrated chapel, as the house was then run by Benedict nuns. The ornamentally designed interior was adapted to the straight forms of the architecture of the fifties. Known under the name of St. Vinzenz it remained unchanged until 1996, when the Sutter Family took over the building and retransformed it into its initial function: a hotel. Every year a few modifications are carried out to increase the comfort of our guests and also to improve our system of sustainability. For example, it is now possible to use the strong sunshine of Davos with solar panels on the roof to produce hot water.
